Pangdam I/BB menjelaskan, vaksinasi ini sebagai bentuk dukungan warga negara terhadap program vaksinasi nasional yang dijalankan pemerintah dalam upaya percepatan penanganan wabah Covid-19.
“Di samping itu, vaksinasi massal seperti ini juga bertujuan untuk menciptakan Herd Immunity di wilayah Provinsi Sumatera Utara, serta dalam rangka memperingati Hari Buruh Internasional (May Day) pada 1 Mei 2021 besok,” urai Pangdam I/BB.
Hal senada disampaikan Kapolda Sumut. Dikatakan Irjen Pol Panca Putra Simanjuntak, pelaksanaan vaksinasi massal buruh ini juga bertujuan untuk mencegah penularan Virus Corona, memutus mata rantai penyebarannya sekaligus mengantisipasi munculnya kluster baru di tengah-tengah komunitas buruh.
“Itulah makanya vaksinasi ini dilaksanakan untuk lima zona (satu zona sebanyak 100 buruh), sehingga mencegah terjadinya kerumunan yang berpotensi memunculkan kasus penularan baru,” ungkap Kapoldasu.
Seperti Pangdam I/BB, Kapoldasu juga mengingatkan para buruh untuk patuh terhadap protokol kesehatan dan mendukung Surat Edaran yang dikeluarkan Pemerintah dalam rangka larangan mudik ke kampung halaman guna mencegah kluster baru penyebaran Covid-19.
Kegiatan diakhiri oleh Pangdam I/BB bersama Kapoldasu serta unsur Forkopimda Provsu dan Deliserdang dengan melakukan pengecekan sertifikat hasil vaksinasi tahap I yang dimiliki para buruh.
