Pemko Medan terus membenahi infrastruktur. Mulai Januari sampai dengan 20 Juli 2023 sepanjang 16.621 meter drainase pun dibenahi.
Pembenahan ini termasuk dalam program Pembangunan Sistem Drainase Perkotaan, Peningkatan Saluran Drainase Perkotaan, Pembangunan Sistem Drainase Lingkungan, dan Peningkatan Saluran Drainase Lingkungan.
Data yang diperoleh dari Dinas Sumber Daya Air Bina Marga Bina Konstruksi (SDABMBK), Senin (24/7) menunjukkan, pembenahan drainase itu dilakukan pada 38 titik lokasi jalan.
Seluruh drainase tersebut dipasang u-dicth, kecuali pekerjaan di eks Parit Belanda Kecamatan Medan Labuhan yang menggunakan sheet pile.
Program Pembangunan Sistem Drainase Perkotaan dilaksanakan pada 8 titik lokasi yakni di Jalan RPH sampai dengan Mangaan I Gang Amal Kelurahan Mabar Hilir Kecamatan Medan Deli sepanjang 790 meter,
Jalan Madio Utomo dan Jalan Pelita VI Medan Perjuangan sepanjang 439 meter, Jalan Durung 3 Kelurahan Terjun Medan Marelan sepanjang 552 meter, Jalan Sudirman Medan Polonia sepanjang 364 meter,
Jalan Budi Luhur (lanjutan) Medan Helvetia sepanjang 132 meter, Jalan Cut Nyak Dien (lanjutan) Medan Polonia sepanjang 297 meter,
Jalan Marelan VI Kelurahan Rengas Pulau Medan Marelan 1.279 sepanjang meter, dan Jalan Marelan IX (lanjutan) Medan Marelan sepanjang 211 meter.

Pekerjaan Dinas SDABMBK Medan ini mendatangkan rasa gembira masyarakat. Soalnya, setelah drainase dibenahi, genangan air maupun banjir pada kawasan sekitar titik lokasi pekerjaan dapat diatasi.
Hal ini dibenarkan oleh Usama Nasution, warga Jalan Budi Luhur Lingkungan IX Kelurahan Dwikora, Medan Helvetia.
Dia mengaku, sebelum drainase di Jalan Budi Luhur dibenahi, kondisi jalan tersebut sangat parah. “Luar biasa parahnya sebelum drainase diperbaiki.
Kalau hujan, apalagi kalau sudah dua jam, banjir. Kami mengalami langsung. Di rumah saya, ketinggian air saat banjir hampir sedengkul,” akunya.
Usama bersyukur banjir itu bisa teratasi setelah Pemko Medan membenahi drainase. “Alhamdulillah, setelah dibangun ini kami merasa bersyukur.
Kami berterima kasih kepada Pemko Medan, terutama kepada Bapak Bobby Nasution sebagai Wali Kota.”
Memang, nilainya, masih ada kekurangan yang tentunya bisa dipahami, misalnya jalan menjadi lebih kecil akibat lebarnya parit.
“Masih ada kekurangan memang, namun begitu pun kami berterima kasih kepada Pemko Medan, karena ada perhatian pada drainase kami.”
Senada, Sukritman juga merasakan manfaat pembenahan drainase yang telah dilakukan Pemko Medan. Warga Jalan Budi Luhur ini mengaku, setelah drainase diperbaiki air mengalir lancar ke pembuangannya.
“Tidak seperti dulu, kalau sudah hujan banjir sampai berjam-jam. Sekarang, setelah drainase diperbaiki, kalau pun banjir hanya sebentar, hujan reda airnya hilang. Itu cuma air datang aja istilahnya,” sebutnya.
Demikian pula pengakuan Mariani warga Jalan Pelita VII Kelurahan Tegal Rejo. Dia mengatakan sejak pembenahan drainase di kawasan tempat tinggalnya, tidak ada lagi banjir saat hujan turun.
